Yoker  v. Maryhill
0 - 3

2nd May 2009

Three goals in ten minutes towards the end of the first half secured a comfortable victory for Maryhill. Their task was made easier, however, with  Yoker having to play a man short for almost an hour.

In the first minute , Willie Sawyers was through on goal but Yoker keeper Stefan McCurley  blocked his shot well. Six minutes later a shot on the drop by James McLernon beat the keeper, but was just a fraction too high. Maryhill went ahead after 29 minutes when Willie Sawyers scored from the penalty spot after he had been fouled by McCurley. Referee Alan Mulvanny deemed it to have been a clear goal scoring opportunity, and showed the keeper a red card. Six minutes later, McLernon connected with a Bryan Smith cross to shoot home number two, and the game was effectively ended as a contest when Sawyers cleverly lobbed replacement keeper Thomas Jordan six minutes before the break. Neil Schoneville almost pulled a goal back for Yoker, but his header struck the crossbar.

Half  Time  -  Yoker  0   Maryhill  3

The second half was a non event ,with the only incidents worthy of note being a William Ferguson shot for Yoker which came back off the bar, and a powerful shot from Chris McKee for Maryhill in the final minute which whistled inches past the post.
